About Us

We are a family-owned guest farm in the heart of the Eastern Cape. Situated on the Blue Crane Route, close to the town of Pearston, we offer our visitors an unparalleled and authentic African safari experience.

Our location in the Karoo places us in an ideal position to enjoy this popular region of South Africa that is known for its sprawling landscape, scattered with hills. The vegetation is typical of the Eastern Cape with “Spekboom”, aloe, thorn trees and Karoo bush. The veld varies from semi-desert to dense bushes, mountains and grassland. Spend a day out in the unspoiled wilderness and come home to an inviting campfire under starry night skies – the ideal setting for reconnecting with nature.

At Turksvygrivier Safaris we welcome all families, couples, hunters, campers and even the odd biker road-tripping through the best of South Africa’s gravel roads.

Our family heritage

Our family consists of mom and dad, Arrie and Stephanie Stopforth, and their two daughters, Phia and Vaudri. Arrie, an Elsenburg graduated farmer, is a very experienced hunter who especially enjoys training novice hunters. He specialises in giving guests the hunting experience of a lifetime.

Stephanie, a Stellenbosch graduate in education now works as an Estate Agent in Strand, Western Cape. She is one of the best cooks you’ll ever come across. During the months of May to August she resides permanently on the farm and caters to all guests needs when it comes to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She also organises veld lunch packs for those out hunting, horse riding, bird watching, cycling or just hiking.

A new beginning

Phia Goussard the oldest daughter, is a Granger Bay Hotel School graduate and married to Charl Goussard. Phia worked in the Hotel Industry for some time, gaining valuable experience that she brings home to Turksvygrivier. She is currently working in Somerset West but returns to the farm as often as possible to assist with the day-to-day activities. If you are interested in horse riding, regardless of whether you’re a beginner, Phia is the one to teach you.

Vaudri Dippenaar is the younger daughter and is a Stellenbosch graduate in ETA Sport Coaching and Management. She married Johan Dippenaar in September 2017 and she is currently being groomed by mom to take over the Estate Agency business while she takes care of 4 kids for a family in Somerset West in a part-time capacity.
